Sometimes also known as “neuromodulators,” these products interact with the facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles in the first place. As you make facial expressions and otherwise utilize your facial muscles each day, their engagement eventually causes the formation of lines and wrinkles on the skin that sits above them.
Wrinkle relaxers work their magic by interrupting the nerve signals that tell these muscles to move. By hitting the “pause button” on certain muscles, we’re able to stop the formation of what are known as dynamic wrinkles. This works to smooth over wrinkles that have already formed while preventing the formation of further wrinkles in the future.
Most injection sessions only take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. Once your session is over, you’ll experience a bit of redness and tenderness in the treatment area, but this will be the extent of your downtime. Most patients feel comfortable returning to their daily routines as soon as their sessions are over.
