As the laser passes through your skin, its heat damages the hair follicle, slowing future hair growth. Our laser hair removal in Denver can remove hair from any area of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the areola and bikini area.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair follicles cycle continually through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Our laser systems work by disabling the hair that is in the active growth phase. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments will be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area. Therefore, most areas require 5 to 10 treatments. The final number of treatments for your laser hair removal in Denver depends on various factors such as your hairs’ thickness, the area treated, and your hairs’ growth cycle. You will want to wait to begin follow-up sessions until new hair has started to grow under the skin. This may take up to 12 weeks.

What should I expect during the treatment?

You may feel a series of short snaps, somewhat like a small rubber band snapping against your skin, but no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. However, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic – especially when sensitive areas are treated.

How long will the treatment take?

Treatment times will vary depending on the area being treated.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you will begin to shed hair from the treated area. This may look like a re-growth of hair – but you should not wax or pluck it. You can shave if you wish to.

Can any hair types be treated?

No. Laser or light-based system cannot treat light blonde, white, red or gray hair since there is not enough pigment in it to absorb the light.

Can all skin types be treated?

Yes. We are able to treat all skin types, including light, dark or tanned skin, although the treatment is most effective when there is a large contrast between your hair and skin color.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes. Laser hair removal effectively destroys the hair itself without harming the surrounding skin. You may be a little red afterward, but that typically goes away in a matter of hours.

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?

The following criteria will help you determine if you are an ideal candidate for laser hair removal in Denver:

  • Dark, coarse hair and light skin generally yield the best results in the fewest treatment sessions
  • Blonde, gray, and red hair does not respond as well to treatment
  • Dark skin may limit the effectiveness of the treatment
  • If you have a spent a significant amount of time in the sun, you will want to wait until your tan fades to begin treatment
  • Taking certain skin medications such as Retin-A or Accutane may rule you out as a candidate
